Our mission to improve and reduce the overall carbon footprint and impact on the environment has been rapidly increasing and gaining momentum over a relatively short period of time. By approaching the issue in a practical yet proactive manner, we have implemented measures, which are not only furthering our cause but helping to lead as an example for others within the industry.
Steps taken so far:
- Replacing all alkaline AA batteries, to rechargeable lithium AA batteries.
- 80% of deliveries and collections are now completed in our plug-in hybrid.
- Plans to replace our remaining vehicles in our fleet to hybrid/electric by 2021.
- Switched to an all digital system reducing the need for any paper copies to be printed.
- Electronic rental agreements are now used in replacement of printed hard copies
- The purchasing of specialised rental software to help minimise and consolidate energy and resources used within the workplace.
- We have introduced a recycling scheme for all office waste, including paper, aluminium and plastic
- Tested cables are packaged in 100% biodegradable and compostable bags.
- Fixing and repairing faulty equipment as opposed to outright disposal. If equipment is beyond repair then we will recycle or sell the equipment for parts if of use.
- Introduced an extended and broad range of LED lighting technology within our rental stock. These LED options use less energy than the tungsten alternatives and also reduces the need for plastic correction gels.
- As most of our rental stock requires the use of lithium batteries, we are looking into options where, once the battery reaches end-of-life, they can be re-celled/repaired for further extended use
- Where lithium batteries cannot be repaired, we are identifying key partners in the safe disposal and recycling of said batteries.
- Employees are encouraged to share their views and approach on how best to further other green initiatives.
