BBC The One Show: 500 Words Competition 2026 Announcement

We joined veteran BBC The One Show presenter Alex Jones at the oldest occupied castle in Britain, Windsor Castle, to shoot the announcement for 2026's 500 Words Competition. Director of Photography David Symmons and Sound Recordist Joe Perry joined a stellar One Show crew to capture the amazing collections of artefacts, paintings and books stored at the castle, to illustrate the exciting prize that awaits the winners of 2026's 500 Words short story competition: a chance to present their stories to the royal family and a host of celebrities at Windsor Castle.
